Increased Efficiency Using Digital Water Solutions
There are substantial challenges in water and wastewater treatment management, including:
- Climate Change
- Stricter regulations
- Depleting freshwater resources & pollution
- Growing population & urbanisation
- And increasing technical complexity
At the same time, a growing number of digital and sensor technologies are making their way into the market, helping convert data streams into valuable insights. Today, many in the water and wastewater treatment industry have shifted focus to the digital transformation of its infrastructure.
As part of the Singapore International Water Week Online (SIWW) speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds took part in an informative webinar, addressing the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation in the water and wastewater industry.
The session, entitled “Increase Efficiency Using Digital Water Solutions for Water Utilities”, was organised by the Netherlands Water Partnership and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore and focused on experiences with the Aquasuite software from Royal HaskoningDHV Digital and EventLab, real-time water quality monitoring system developed by Optiqua.
Speakers addressed:
- the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation
- how software has contributed to the ease and integration of technology into the water industry
- the need for real-time monitoring throughout the waterchain
What is Aquasuite
Aquasuite is a product family of intelligent solutions for advanced monitoring and control of water treatment systems. Through Aquasuite, advanced forecasting systems, model-based and decision-support controlling software are made available in a joint effort by Royal HaskoningDHV engineers and clients.
What is EventLab
Optiqua EventLab – 24/7 information on water quality EventLab is the solution for applications where realtime monitoring of the overall stability of the water quality is crucial. EventLab detects any type of chemical contamination in the water. EventLab is suited for a wide range of applications, such as monitoring process stability at water treatment plants, monitoring for cross-connections, or as an early warning system for integrity and security in the distribution network, e.g. detection of accidental backflow events as well as intentional contaminations. Optiqua, part of the DEMCON Group, is based in The Netherlands where it has development and production facilities. Optiqua works closely with PUB, Singapore. After extensive trials, the EventLab system is now being rolled out.
